NOURISHING COMMUNITY, FEEDING SOULS.

The pain of inflation is real for all of us, but particularly for financially insecure households, often isolated from both good nutrition and revitalizing relationships.

The Community Food Network is a connection point for the local neighborhood to access healthy food while building a thriving community and empowerment. We prioritize fresh produce, healthy meats, and dairy products, ensuring our members have access to the nutritious options necessary for a balanced diet. Our commitment to quality sets us apart.

The network is designed as a cooperative effort with intentional focus on the body, mind and spirit. It is neighbors empowering neighbors, affirming dignity and real relationships while providing support and food for its families and individuals. Handouts and charity mindsets are replaced with meaningful involvement, true community and personal development.

Due to a focus on the quality of food and household staples the CFN provides members, along with the physical constraints of our facilities, OUR CURRENT MEMBERSHIP IS FILLED TO CAPACITY.
The Community Food Network is temporarily no longer able to accept new members.
Opportunities for membership applications will be announced on our social media channels.
Please follow New Heights CCDA on Facebook and Instagram.

All meetings take place at the First Church of God,
Benton Heights Campus, 990 N Euclid, Benton Harbor.

WHO

New Heights CCDA currently runs three Community Food Network groups out of our Benton Heights location, two in English and one in Spanish, and serves 200-250 individuals and household members monthly. The Community Food Network provides members with 1/3 - 1/2 of their food needs for the month.

HOW

Participants pay a $5 fee to join, and $3 per meeting to maintain their memberships. These funds are not used for food, but rather to support operations for our delivery truck or to support Community Food Network social events. Volunteers and members pitch in together: unload trucks, help sort food, and provide the best experience for one another, creating a vibrant community centered on service, compassion, and making a tangible difference in each others’ lives.

WHY

Building wellness, community and conversation. One of the greatest things that Community Food Network provides to individuals is a sense of belonging. Members quickly become friends and support one another through both celebrations and hard times.

Additional Resources

Many of our members need resources beyond just food. Given New Heights’ unique model we are able to bring in additional wrap-around services to our Community Food Network groups.

A variety of community organizations partner with us to make their resources readily available to our members, such as our collaboration with Corewell Health which provides regular programming and health education to our members.
