The Best Place to Donate a Car in Southwest Michigan

We think New Heights Auto Ministry is one of the best places to donate a car in Southwest Michigan. Here’s why: your vehicle could become someone else’s reliable transportation, right here in our community.

For a neighbor trying to keep a job, an unreliable ride is more than an inconvenience. It can mean missed shifts, lost income, and difficult choices about how to get to appointments or care for family. A dependable car can change what is possible from one day to the next.

That is what we work to create from a donated vehicle.

We see a car’s potential beyond its sale price

Many vehicle donation programs sell cars to raise money for worthwhile causes. At New Heights, we first look at whether a donated car can be restored for someone who needs it.

Our automotive team evaluates each vehicle, makes the repairs needed when a car is suitable for placement, and works to provide safe, reliable transportation to a qualified local recipient. The result can be remarkably tangible: a car that was sitting unused in one driveway becomes the way someone gets to work.

That local, practical outcome is a compelling reason to give your car to New Heights.

Your donation supports a ministry built around transportation

Vehicle placement is part of what New Heights Auto Ministry does every day. We also provide subsidized repairs to help people keep the vehicles they already have on the road.

In 2024, the ministry provided 32 vehicles to people in need and completed 232 ministry repairs. Each number points to a transportation barrier that someone was working to overcome.

You can see what that means in Helen’s story. Before receiving a donated vehicle through New Heights, she was trying to maintain her job while depending on other rides for a 15-mile commute. A reliable car gave her a steadier way to get there and more freedom to manage the rest of her life.

Even a vehicle we cannot place can help

We cannot promise that a particular donated vehicle will go directly to a recipient. Some cars cannot be repaired economically or made suitable for dependable transportation.

When that happens, New Heights may sell, salvage, or scrap the vehicle and put the proceeds toward the Auto Ministry’s work. Your gift still helps address transportation needs in Southwest Michigan, even if the vehicle itself does not return to the road.

Every vehicle deserves a good next chapter

There are many worthy causes you could support with a vehicle donation. If you want yours to help people close to home reach work, appointments, and opportunities, we would be honored to put it to work.

For the donor who wants a car to make a local, lasting difference, New Heights Auto Ministry is a great place to give.
