The New Heights Laundry Hub in Benton Heights recently hosted a vibrant Resource Fair, providing a day filled with valuable materials, information, food, and community support. With a range of local organizations coming together, the event offered a one-stop shop for residents seeking assistance, guidance, and advocacy.

Yvette McCoy, New Heights Laundry Hub Manager exclaimed, “Our first annual New Heights Resource Fair was an incredible success! We made meaningful connections, enjoyed a delicious lunch, and give the glory to God!”

The fair brought together a diverse array of service providers and ministries, each offering specialized support to the community:

  • Celebrate Recovery from First Church provided information on its faith-based support for overcoming life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups.

  • The Area Agency on Aging shared crucial resources for seniors, caregivers, and their families, ensuring older adults can live independently and with dignity.

  • Center for Growth and Independence provided resources to empower individuals with disabilities, focusing on independence and self-sufficiency.

  • Legal Aid shared resources to obtain free legal services to those in need, helping the community navigate issues like housing, family law, and more.

  • The Corewell Center for Wellness focused on health and wellness, providing information on maintaining physical and mental well-being.

  • Riverwood connected attendees with mental health services, offering support for those dealing with mental health challenges.

  • The League of Women Voters encouraged civic engagement, offering voter registration and education about upcoming elections.

In addition to the resources, the event was filled with fun and festivities. Families and individuals enjoyed music, hot dogs, chips, and popcorn, while neighbors mingled in the family-friendly environment. The upbeat atmosphere, combined with the practical resources offered by each partner, made for a day of both support and celebration.

The New Heights Laundry Hub goes far beyond clean laundry and state-of-the-art equipment, it continues to focus on creating opportunities for community members to connect with the resources they need to thrive. Events like the Resource Fair highlight the power of collaboration and the impact local organizations can have when they come together for the good of the community.
