New Heights Kicks Off 2026 Community Dinner Season

New Heights CCDA kicked off its 2026 Community Dinner season on March 3, welcoming 75 neighbors from Benton Heights and the surrounding community for an evening centered on food, connection, and shared resources.

Community dinners are an important part of New Heights’ broader community development work in Benton Heights. These gatherings create space for neighbors to build relationships, learn about available resources, and engage with local partners who are invested in the well-being of the community.

“Community dinners are one of the ways we invest in the relational health of Benton Heights,” said Chris Britton, Executive Director of New Heights CCDA. “When neighbors gather around a table, relationships grow and people become more connected to the resources and opportunities available in the community.”

The March dinner was generously sponsored by Chick-fil-A of Benton Harbor, whose support helped make the evening possible.

In addition to sharing a meal together, participants also had the opportunity to connect with local leaders and organizations. Benton Charter Township Supervisor Kathy Yates attended the dinner, along with a representative from the Berrien County Health Department, who shared information about resources available for new and expecting mothers in the community.

Events like these highlight the role New Heights plays as a connector within the community. By bringing together neighbors, local leaders, and service providers, community dinners help ensure that residents are aware of the resources available to them while also strengthening relationships across the neighborhood.

Community dinners are one of several ways New Heights works to foster long-term neighborhood vitality. Alongside programs like the Community Food Network and New Heights Auto Ministry, these gatherings help address both the practical needs and relational health of the community.
