Cycle-Re-Cycle Partners with New Heights Laundry Hub, Bringing Bicycles and Community Engagement to Benton Heights
Cycle-Re-Cycle, a non-profit community bike shop based in Benton Harbor, has deepened its commitment to the Benton Heights community by visiting the New Heights Laundry Hub twice a month. Dedicated to improving the lives of Southwest Michigan residents, Cycle-Re-Cycle promotes bicycles as a sustainable and affordable mode of transportation while fostering a sense of community through cycling.
As part of their regular visits to the Laundry Hub, Cycle-Re-Cycle provides a variety of services aimed at empowering individuals and families in Benton Heights. From offering refurbished bicycles for sale at affordable prices to running programs focused on bicycle maintenance and safety, the organization is working to create greater access to transportation while encouraging a healthier, more active lifestyle.
"We’re excited to partner with the New Heights Laundry Hub and bring our services directly to the Benton Heights community," said Yvette McCoy, New Heights Laundry Hub Manager. "Bicycles are a fun way to get around, and through our programs, we hope to inspire more people to take up cycling—whether for transportation, exercise, or simply for enjoyment."
One of Cycle-Re-Cycle’s flagship programs is the "earn-a-bike" initiative for kids, where young participants learn about bike maintenance and safety while earning a bike of their own. This program not only gives children the opportunity to own their first bicycle but also teaches them valuable life skills, instilling a sense of responsibility and self-sufficiency.
The partnership between Cycle-Re-Cycle and the Laundry Hub represents a shared vision of creating more opportunities for the Benton Heights community to thrive. With cycling becoming an increasingly popular mode of transportation in Southwest Michigan, this initiative aims to build a larger bike culture in the region. The goal is to encourage people of all ages to embrace the benefits of cycling, whether it's for commuting, staying active, or simply exploring the area.
Through their educational programs on bike safety and maintenance, Cycle-Re-Cycle is also working to ensure that new and experienced cyclists alike feel confident and empowered when they hit the road. By fostering partnerships and promoting cycling advocacy, the organization hopes to make cycling a more prominent part of daily life in Benton Heights and beyond.
With each visit to the New Heights Laundry Hub, Cycle-Re-Cycle continues to strengthen its impact on the community.
