Harris Family Farm Foundation Continues Support for Community Food Network

The Harris Family Farm Foundation, a longstanding advocate for food security and education in southwest Michigan, has once again extended its generous support to the New Heights Community Food Network (CFN). As a donation and education farm, the Harris Family Farm Foundation is committed to serving under-resourced communities by promoting sustainable food practices and offering hands-on learning experiences that teach people of all ages about gardening, cooking, and the importance of nutritious food.

Through their ongoing partnership with New Heights CFN, the Harris Family Farm Foundation provides fresh, locally grown produce to help fill the nutritional gap for families in need. In addition to supplying healthy fruits and vegetables, the foundation's work supports the network’s mission of alleviating food scarcity while fostering a healthier, more resilient community.

"We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from the Harris Family Farm Foundation," said Kathy Craig, Director for the New Heights CFN. "Their contributions of fresh, farm-grown produce are invaluable to our families, and their mission aligns perfectly with our goal of promoting healthy eating habits and sustainable living."

To the delight of many CFN members, Farmer Billy Burdett even brought starter plants so they can grow healthy vegetables throughout the spring and summer seasons in their own gardens.

"We believe that everyone should have access to good, nutritious food, and we want to show people that growing it themselves is not only possible but rewarding," said Burdett. "Whether it's a small garden in your yard or a potted plant on your windowsill, we hope to inspire people to start growing their own food and give it away to others who need it."

This season, the foundation continues to supply fresh produce to the New Heights CFN. These donations are not only a crucial source of nutrition but also serve as a reminder of the power of community-driven efforts to support under-resourced areas.

The collaboration between the Harris Family Farm Foundation and New Heights CFN reflects the shared belief that education and food security go hand in hand. By teaching people how to grow their own food and generously giving away what they grow, the foundation is creating a ripple effect of positive change that reaches far beyond the families directly served.

The Harris Family Farm Foundation continues to play a vital role in the CFN’s success. Together, they are working to build a future where communities are empowered.
