Laundry Hub Opens with Ribbon Cutting Celebration
New Heights CCDA celebrated the grand opening of the New Heights Laundry Hub with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the company of community, local, and corporate leaders. This much-anticipated addition to the community was designed with multifunctional space to bring community resources to Benton Heights residents.
Located at 2121 Red Arrow Highway, at the corner of Red Arrow and Euclid Avenue, Benton Harbor, the new facility was built to revolutionize the ways the community accesses both clean laundry and social services. It is
The Laundry Hub features state-of-the-art laundry facilities, intended to provide a convenient option for individuals and families, many constrained by a lack of public transit and the nearest laundromat over miles away. In addition to 32 new Maytag brand commercial washers and dryers, the hub has 800 square feet of flexible space dedicated to host a range of social services such as health screenings, job training, financial literacy, and more.
Partnering agencies, such as LifePlan, Mosaic CCDA, Kinexus, Corewell Health, Lincoln Township Library, Cycle-Re-Cycle, and others, significantly enrich the range of services available. The list of partner agencies continues to expand, with New Heights currently engaged in discussions with numerous potential collaborators.
“We are thrilled to introduce this concept to the Benton Heights community,” said Chris Britton, Executive Director of New Heights CCDA. “Access to clean laundry has been a felt need for many residents for decades. But the Laundry Hub is not just about clean clothes, it’s about empowering people in their everyday lives, within the limited amount of time that they have, by connecting them to vital resources and support.”
New Heights CCDA collaborated with numerous partners and donors, including First Church of God, Whirlpool Foundation, Frederick S. Upton Foundation, American Electric Power Foundation, Fiskars Construction, and the Corewell Health Foundation-Southwest Michigan, among others. These entities have played a crucial role in bringing this project to fruition.
Together, we can build a strong, stable community for everyone.
